We undertake a journey through Western Poland to look at both the PKP at work and to visit the Wolsztyn Steam Trust. Entry to Poland is via Berlin and then by local train. We make a trip to Leszno on a service steam train and then spend a little time on this important line while the PKP goes about its daily business. Revenue earning freight is still steam hauled around Wolsztyn. We journey with the crew of TY 45 20 with a 1,400 tonne trip freight from the marshalling yard at Zbaszynek. This yard is on the Berlin Poznan Warsaw main line. Then it's on to Poznan for a quick look at the modern freight yard before sampling the Sroda narrow gauge. Back to Poznan to travel on one of the most complete tram systems in the country. Many of the activities shown are part of the Wolsztyn Experience, organised by the Wolsztyn Steam Trust. The film is narrated by BBC Radio and Television presenter Jonathan Hewat and Sheila Pawlovski, and is illustrated with plans and maps throughout.
