This 1949 drama documentary tells the story of young mining trainees. Tinker (Derek Smith) a Gypsy's son runs away and joins the mining school. Unable to read or write he struggles to cope and when unjust suspicion of theft is blamed on "Tinker", life at the school becomes even more difficult but he perseveres and all ends well in this very interesting social documentary.
