'To Dust' is a multi-media project published on video. The disc is supplied in a cardboard cover with a written introduction by the projects writer/director. It is accompanied by a 60 pages booklet which holds the lyrics, as they are spoken onthe disc. A full translation of this text to Danish is also provided. The two items has been shrink-wrapped together. The video tells a story, or rather two, but tells them in tandem, one weaving in and out of the other. They both intend to take the viewer/listener on a journey, but of different sorts. One will through the use of photographic images send you from the glittering towers at Canary Wharf in London, through the city to the shaded, empty gardens of a long vanished villa in Golders Green, on the edge of suburbia. The other will provide an adventure of a less tangible kind: a narrator will in song-like words cover the listener first with lavish promises then fickle hopes, as his and our journey gradually moves towards its destination. Perhaps the project is best experienced like a piece of counterpoint music, where two voices meet and part in order to perform a dance, to the rhythm and forward motion of time. 'To Dust' has the following cast: Matthew Ingleby (voiceover), Henrik Jensen (doublebass), Will Butterworth (piano), Tom Hopkins (audio recordings/mastering), Matthew Hawkins (film edit/ mastering and moving images), Stephanie Norgate (lyrics edit) and Anders Rindom (script/ lyrics/ audio field recordings/ still photographs and still image sequencing).
