Topuria: Matador (2024)

Giampaolo Manfreda directs this documentary chronicling the life and career of Georgian-Spanish mixed martial arts fighter Ilia Topuria. Born in Germany to Georgian refugee parents, Topuria overcame a difficult early life in war-torn Georgia to become one of the world's top MMA fighters. In February 2024 he faced the undefeated Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC Featherweight Championship and won, ending Volkanovski's four-year reign as champion. Manfreda considers the challenges and triumphs, both personal and professional, that have shaped Topuria's life and includes highlights of his fights alongside archival footage.
