The combination of Le Tour de France and the stunning French countryside is a real love story, and this incredible film presents the Tour as seen from the air. Archive pictures going back to the very first Tour de France reveal the most exciting and dramatic events to have taken place over the years in the race itself, all set against a magnificent backdrop. Revisit the beautiful scenery France is famous for as the programme begins in the North East and winds its way south to the majesty of the Alps - scene of so many unforgettable moments - past countless chateaux, churches and vineyards. The second part of this dramatic journey begins with a look at one of cycling's most famous mountains: 'The Giant of Provence', Mont Ventoux. The camera then continues to capture the peloton from above as it moves serenely past the most beautiful villages of Southern France and along the Mediterranean Coast towards the Pyrenees, before turning north towards Brittany. Finally, the peloton moves down to Paris and the iconic Champs Elysees, which marks the end of the Tour and provides a fitting finale for our 3,500km odyssey around France.
