This BAFTA award winning TV series from the BBC returns for its fourth series and continues to follow the often dangerous lives of trawler fishermen off the coast of Scotland. Each episode focuses on this often hazardous occupation and through very human stories we witness how the fisherman crews survive battling the elements on their quest to bring home the perfect catch. In the first episode the young crew of the prawn trawler New Dawn recover from the devastating loss of one of their shipmates at sea. On the pair-trawler Sunrise there is a Shakespearean struggle between rival brothers as to who will inherit the wheelhouse from their father. Featuring events rarely captured on camera - dramatic helicopter rescues, a massive freak wave and ropes caught in propellers. In the second episode, the stories centre on the two greatest young skippers of their generation. On the Fruitful Bough and the Rosebloom, cameras follow brothers working for, and in competition with, each other. There are huge hauls of prawns, terrifying breakdowns, and one trawler has its net completely ripped away by a massive swell. In episode three a team goes extreme crabbing off the Outer Hebrides in the worst weather seen in the programme's four-year history. - Directors:
