Truus Wijsmuller saved the lives of thousands of Jewish children just before and during the Second World War. The decisiveness and perseverance of this Dutch woman mean that she belongs to a very select group of resistance heroes in the world. Yet it has remained relatively unknown in the Netherlands until now. Thanks to her enormous effort, ingenuity and courage, Truus Wijsmuller brought more than 10,000 mainly Jewish children to safety in the darkest years of our modern history. In this documentary, some of these children, who are now elderly, tell about the special deeds of the resistance woman. Friends of Truus also tell what kind of a woman she was.
