Jake lives alone in a ramshackle house in the middle of the forest. He is seen in all seasons, passing the time with strange projects, living the radical dream he had as a younger man, a dream he spent two years working at sea to realise. Using old 16mm cameras, artist Ben Rivers has made a series of films about people who live somehow disconnected from society and who have taken themselves into the wilderness. 'Two Years At Sea', winner of the International Critics Prize at Venice Film Festival, extends his relationship with Jake, a man first encountered in his short film 'This Is My Land'. Jake has a tremendous sense of purpose, surviving frugally, poised somewhere between a bygone age and a post-apocalyptic future. Rivers' witty and gracefully constructed film, hand-processed in his kitchen, creates an intimate connection with an individual who would otherwise be a complete outsider to us. - Actors:
