The undisputed Godfathers of second wave punk, the UK Subs came crashing onto the scene in 1977 when Charlie Harper fell in love with the new raw sound and dropped out of his R & B band, The Marauders, to form a punk rock outfit. By the end of the seventies the Subs were one of the foremost bands on the punk circuit, constantly touring and selling out gigs all over the world. They also became prolific recording artists and enjoyed success in both the mainstream and independent UK charts. Various John Peel sessions were also recorded, as were numerous Top Of the Pops appearances, the last of which was never aired due to a minor stage invasion.
