- Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is an American situational comedy TV series with Ellie Kemper in the main role, as her on-screen character, a 29-year-old Kimmy Schmidt tries to adjust to her new life in New York, after previously been held hostage in Indiana by a fanatic cult leader named Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne (played by John Hamm) for 15 years. Armed with positive attitude, Kimmy Schmidt befriends several New Yorkers and together they roam the streets of the Big Apple.
