The historian Undine (Paula Beer) gives city tours in Berlin. When she is not working, she lives a simple life in her small apartment. What sounds like an inconspicuous and almost boring existence is anything but deep down inside. When her boyfriend Johannes (Jacob Matschenz) separates from her to live with another woman, mischief takes its course: A Curse says that Undine should kill the man who betrayed her and then return to the water from which she was once called. But unlike the legendary figure, the modern Undine defends itself against the fate imposed on her. She doesn't want to kill anyone and she doesn't want to just go. Just as the betrayal of Undine happens Christoph (Franz Rogowski) appears on the scene and for them it is love at first sight. The industrial diver wants to show her his world - which she has known for a long time. The young couple spends an unforgettable time together until Christoph realizes that his loved one is hiding something from him.
