Mother of three Rhoda Bradley (Tamzin Outhwaite) is stuck in a dead end job as a supermarket check-out assistant and is desperate to do something worth while with her life before it is too late. When her daughter Lexie (Lucinda Dryzek) is taken to hospital with appendicitis, the hospital visit inspires Rhoda to dramatically change her life and train to become a doctor. However, although the medical school are supportive, her family are not so sure and Rhoda soon discovers that even with enthusiasm and determination, wanting to be a doctor and being accepted to train as a doctor by your friends and family are two very different things...
