Written and directed by Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine, Oscar-nominated, 'War Dance' is the beautifully filmed and inspiring story of Dominic, Rose, and Nancy. Three children whose family life has been devastated by war and death but who still are able to display an unnerving resilience, and retain a remarkable degree of pride and responsibility against insurmountable odds. For over 20 years Northern Uganda has been a war zone where the Lord's Resistance Army has run rampant destroying villages kidnapping children and murdering their parents. The 60000 survivors are forced to live in a refugee camp where conditions are bleak and resources are scarce. Somehow the children of the Patongo Primary School have qualified for the Kampala Music Festival for the first time. Thus providing them an opportunity to embark on a momentous journey to their capital city, Kampala, to take control and restore meaning to shattered lives. A powerful story of hope through community and music, once the children become involved in preparations for the music and dance competition, 'War Dance' becomes a richly authentic, moving and exhilarating documentary.
