- More than a thousand years ago ancient China was ruled by a cruel government under the stewardship of the corrupt government under the stewardship of the corrupt Governor Kao Chu. His only opposition was a group of 108 brave and chivalrous knights who continued to fight for justice. Cast aside as outlaws, these peoples heroes were driven to live in the water margins of Liang Shan Po, far to the south of the capital city. To crush the dissenters once and for all, the evil Kao Chu holds a martial arts tournament to lure the best fighters away from the margins, creating and exploitable weakness. But the fighters have plenty of friends to help thwart the plan.
