McGonigle learns the balance of his tour has been cancelled. To save his daughter’s romance, McGonigle exits with the claim of an important solo engagement which turns out to be selling patent medicine. The Old Fashion Way includes a re-creation of Fields 1898 juggling act.
Poppy Professor McGonigle travels with his daughter Poppy, passing her of as a long-lost heiress. McGonigle flees when a rival claimed exposes the fraud, but a locket is discovered proving Poppy to be the genuine heiress. McGonigle admits to having adopted Poppy as an infant. Poppy was based on Fields Broadway hit of the same name previously filmed as a silent picture in 1925.
