Climber, naturalist and explorer Tom Weir has enthralled television audiences for more than a decade. Weir's Way effortlessly translates Tom's enthusiasm and passion for walking, the countryside and Scotland's history, inspiring many others to explore their surroundings. Tom visits Eriskay, home of the famous, haunting Eriskay Love Lilt and the place where Bonnie Prince Charlie accidentally made his first footprints on Scottish soil in July 1745. A self-confessed landsman Tom then goes sailing around the Inner and Outer Hebrides learning how to sail the boat at the same time. New ground is broken by Tom when he lands on the Isle of Muck, the most fertile of the Small Isles. Muck's name is thought to derive from the Gaelic word for pig, in this case the sea pig, or porpoise. Re-tracing the fugitive Bonnie Prince Charlie's journey in the Hebrides Tom discovers the danger the locals and Flora Macdonald put themselves in by helping the Prince to escape.
