Woman Walks Ahead (2017)

Biographical drama starring Jessica Chastain, Michael Greyeyes and Sam Rockwell. Portrait painter Catherin Weldon (Chastain) takes a train from New York to Dakota in the hopes of painting Lakota leader Sitting Bull (Greyeyes). On her journey she is met by Colonel Silas Gove (Rockwell) who questions her motives and warns her against the dangers of interacting with the notorious leader. Despite these pressures Weldon meets with Sitting Bull and after accepting $1000 he agrees to have his portrait painted. As their friendship develops Weldon takes up the cause of the Indian people and their fight with the US army about the rights of their land.
