"The Year My Voice Broke" is set in the summer of 1962 in a remote New South Wales country town. Adopted as a baby, sixteen year-old Freya (Loene Carmen) is a constant target of cruel gossip and speculation. Spirited and independent, her one ally is Danny (Noah Taylor), who has been in love with her as long as he can remember. From a distance, Danny watches helplessly as Freya falls for the town tearaway, Trevor (Ben Mendelsohn). Trevor's and Freya's relationship has explosive results that change everything and trigger Danny's discovery of the town's darkest secret.
