Yesterday's Britain: 40s (2004)

An evocative journey back in time,offering an insight into the mentality of the nation during and after World War 2. A time of great camaraderie,the 1940s was the era of swing bands and music halls. Telephone boxes began to appear on the streets of Britain for the first time,and people regularly tuned into the wireless radio to listen to their favourite shows. Using real cine-film footage,the film looks at the fashion,technology,transport and entertainment of the period.
