- Matthew Johnson started Fat Possum Records in 1992 with credit cards and the last of his student loans. In the north Mississippi town of Holly Springs, he recorded Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside, the foundation of Fat Possum's roster. You See Me Laughin' takes us on the road and into the homes of Burnside, Kimborough, T-Model Ford, Cadell Davis, Johnny Farmer and Asie Payton - musicians whose lives of violence, poverty, chance, charm, and luck reinforce the precarious relationship between record label and artist.
