Sawada Kenji, former frontman of 1960s pop group The Tigers, plays the eponymous romantic rake who, during a trip to Kanazawa in the 1920s, is diverted from a rendezvous with his lover Hikono by the beautiful and recently-widowed Tomoyo. When her husband, Wakiya, murdered by the jealous Onimaru, springs back from the grave, Yumeji finds himself caught in a maelstrom of obsession, jealousy and wild passions in which reality, phantasm and fantasy bleed into each other.
