John Hurt narrates this three-part series that traces the history of the "Zulu Wars" - a series of battles and skirmishes between two proud peoples as they fight for supremacy in South Africa. It follows all of the political and military events from Shaka's new warrior nation to the final engagements with Lord Chelmsford. Episodes Comprise: "Shaka, King of the Zulus" following the rise of the Zulu warrior king; "Blood River", the sorry tale of a badly planned Zulu raid on Boer positions leading to the death of over 3,000 Zulus; and "Red Coat Black Blood", in which the British prepare for their confrontation at Ulundi, a battle that saw the Zulu's outgunned and slaughtered.
