I'd not seen any of the previous animated series or read any of the books before but I still enjoyed this movie. I had read that it was hard to follow but I wouldn't say that was the case - providing you're paying attention to what's going on-screen! Visually stunning - especially Charleze Theron - I'd say the plot didn't quite live up to the visual element, but as I say it was still an enjoyable sci-fi flick. I will certainly look into the animated series based on this and certainly hope they follow up this movie with an Aeon Flux 2.
This could have been great. The concept was good as was the story. The film looked evry cent of its undoubtedly high budget. But acting was poor, pacing non-existent and there was no soul to the film. Yes, it was based on a cartoon - a 2d format - but what was the point in making a film if you weren't going to make a cinematic, involving movie? Annoyingly bad movie.
Based on the Peter Chung' animated series, this film cleverly succeeds in translating the strange and abstract world of Aeon Flux in a feature length film. The story is great with some clever plot twists, but what's most amazing about the film is its heavily stylised look, packed with surreal images and some intense and unique action sequences. Overall, 'Aeon Flux' is a highly creative and original piece of intelligent sci-fi and well worth a look.
