Synopsis:
Chloe (Alice Eve) and daughter Sophia live in a rundown motel on a lonely highway pit stop. As the proprietor of the motel, Chloe is in financial trouble and has let Billy (Logan Marshall-Green), a corrupt cop, take advantage of her situation. One night, Topo (Bryan Cranston), a nearly blind career criminal, and his driver stop at the motel while en route to deliver cash to an unknown boss. After an accident kills his driver and impounds his car, he takes Chloe and Sophia hostage, and forces Chloe to be his new driver and guide, using Sophia as collateral. They set out after Billy, who has stolen Topo's money from the car.
Hoping to escape to a better life, Chloe tries to strike a deal with Topo but soon finds herself in over her head, and a series of double crosses leaves a cloud of mayhem and murder.

Gripping stuff! - Cold Comes the Night review by NR

I must disagree with the previous review.

I found the plot quite thrilling and plausible.

Remarkable performances too from both Alice Eve and Bryan Cranston, with a good twist to the plot at the end.

Disappointing comic book drama heavily influenced by Chinese action movies with lots of violence - Cold Comes the Night review by PV

Spoiler Alert
19/08/2023

The director and co-writer Tze Chun is an Asian-American comic book publisher and it shows.

This is also clearly influenced by far eastern drama, Hong Kong and China, set pieces and lots of overacting, blood, guts and gore. not my thing.

Bryan Cranston is always great and he gets away with a Russian accent here. But he's a shadow of Walter White.

The quality of writing and directing here is not in the same league as Breaking Bad.

Disappointing really. Story not believable. It is a COMIC BOOK CAPER heavily influenced by Chinese cinema and the usual violent set pieces.
