Ruined by dubbing
- Iron Fury review by Alphaville
This Russian WW2 tank movie could have been an interesting variant on war movies, but it fails miserably. Although it’s efficiently staged, the tank battles are simply boring and the long central Act 2 that sandwiches the two action set-pieces is even more so. The characters are stereotypes and the dialogue clichéd. Even worse, the Cinema Paradiso version is not available in the original Russian and the horrendously bad American dubbing destroys all sense of realism and seriousness. Maybe the original version would be worth a couple of stars (it did well in Russia), but this version is as dire as the film’s stupid English-language title.

Avoid!!! - dubbed!!!!
- Iron Fury review by ML
Avoid this at all costs!!! On the version Paradiso have the Russian actors have been badly dubbed with absolutely appalling American accents. It completely ruins any sense of immersion and is so bad it makes the film unwatchable.

In one eye and out of the other.

This is a film like so many others that I have seen: both enjoyable and forgettable.
Did I like it? Yes. Did I waste my time by watching it? No. Do I remember much about it? No. Will I rent it again? No.
I don't speak Russian, so the English dub didn't bother me: I like to watch films, not read them.

Dreadful American Dubbing, CGI-fest of slow-motion tank action.
- Iron Fury review by PV
This is fiction. Dedicated to all who were tank soldiers in WWII, but the connection to reality ends there.
Pure action movie fantasy - the central conceit is absurd. In 1944, the Germans were too busy losing the war and running out of resources to do silly training exercises as portrayed here.
The lack of subtitles grates. The Dubbing is SO awful, and I mean horrendous. Real Yee-haw cowboy stuff. And often so unclear I had to rewind to understand it. This distracts from the whole.
If you can get past that and the fantasy element, there are some good action sequences - and thankfully NO attempt to woke it up, with the new cliche of 'strong independent female characters' shoehorned into the plot, or characters of colour.
2 stars. I have seen worse.

Unrealistic, but fun
- Iron Fury review by Gwydion
Like most war films, it has the main characters achieving an unlikely degree of success.
But the actual combat scenes seemed to give a good impression of what a real tank battle might have been like. The sheer danger and the results of non-fatal hits.
Likeable characters, and the villain is shown with some complexities.
