The acting and story line couldn't be better. The sets are obviously in other countries to UK and they speak for themselves.
It is not the life story of Gertrude Bell but a piece of history that she made. There are so many good points in this production that it is hard to believe that they have been ignored by others.
I can only suggest that you watch it and make your own mind up. I read the only review that was available at the time and I nearly did not rent it. I am so pleased that I did. I thought that it was excellent.
I was expecting a serious film about this forgotten strong woman but all we got was a silly superficial stereotype. Gertrude Bell advised T.E.Lawrence, not just encountered him, but never received the fame that he managed to promote about himself. "One woman who changed the course of history" you would never get that from this film. Very disappointing.
Poor script, wooden acting, had the potential to be a brilliant film as the story is excellent, the only thing that kept me watching was the scenery.
