But ruined by white subtitles on a more often than not white or bright back lit/sunny outdoor camera scene..**a black bar at the bottom of the screen would suffice in order to follow the rapid subtitles/dialogue translation/plot.
Don't bother with this if you don't understand French..very disappointing aspect of this potentially great movie !
He’s a bank robber, she’s a racing driver. You don’t need any spoilers to guess the plot. It’s a cliché from start to finish. Maybe it could work if the characters held any interest. They don’t. It might work if the heist or racing scenes were filmed in an interesting way. They aren’t. The English title has replaced the original French title of Le Fidèle to make it sound more exciting. It isn’t. Only someone with the calibre of a Michael Mann could give this any life.
This is not a "happy" film. It is a tragic one.
The film has subtitles.
All starts cool enough with a pretty girl racing around in a Porsche 911 - great. Then she meets a handsome but obviously dodgy geezer and they have a whirlwind romance, he won't tell her what he gets up to when he's away and things start to go wrong.
Later the film gets more dark and after the suspense of heists etc ends it just gets plain depressing and rather non believable.
The trailer for this film makes it look really exciting and like a totally different sort of film so I was rather let down.
It's not terrible, just rather odd. I give 2 stars not 1 for some originality across genres but ultimately the film fails for me.
