This film is supposed to be a sci-fi/action film. It is actually so bad that my wife and myself spent most of the film laughing. Terrible acting and an outrageous plot that got more unbelievable by the minute. Whereby the Matrix was far-fetched sci-fi but gripping this is just FAR-FETCHED and totally unconvincing. In a time when Keanu can do no wrong at the moment he chose a stinker here. However it is so bad that it is good so he comes out well again. :-)
Reeves is no longer the golden boy and the quality of the scripts being thrown his way are no longer AAA material, he is pretty wooden at best and for a man who lost his family in this film he conveys the emotion of a man who ordered a cold pizza such is his acting range.
In the right movie with a good director I think his detached persona works ...for me Constantine was fab, here however we have a film that looks and feels like it was made in the mid eighties complete with assasins with ponytails.
You may laugh or throw up or just press stop on your remote but if you enjoy this you need to watch more sci fi because it is awful.
We (family) enjoyed this film. It has a good plot (it's a sci-fi film after all so pretty outrageous), was well paced and left us wanting to know what would happen. A couple of sub-plots also went down well (no spoilers here). There is some very wooden acting in the film, particularly by Keanu, and although this removes most of the tension it doesn't destroy the film. So it flows well with a good plot and keeps you wanting to know what happens all the way to the end. So I would recommend this film except for those who want to see Keanu acting because in this film, he fails miserably.
