Synopsis:
May 1985 - Peru. Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, ambitious young mountaineers, set off to scale the hitherto unclimbed West Face of Siula Grande, a remote and treacherous peak in the Peruvian Andes. Simpson and Yates reach the summit but shortly after starting the descent, an accident turns their daring expedition into a desperate fight for survival. Based on Joe Simpson's international bestseller, Touching The Void documents one of the most extraordinary true stories of human endurance of our time. Made by Academy Award winning director Kevin MacDonald, this gripping, inspiring film combines dramatic reconstructions of the fateful climb and interviews with the two men it nearly killed.

A gripping true story of survival - Touching the Void review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
17/05/2007

Touching the void is an amazing real life story of the survival of two climbers in the Peruvian Andes.

You will not view life the same again after watching this film.

The courage and will to live of Joe Simpson is immense. You will feel privileged to hear of this extraordinary mans life, humbled by his modesty and inspired by his bravery and understanding.

How Joe Simpson survived is not a miracle but a intense desire to live.

Incredible - Touching the Void review by JD

I don't know how they managed to shoot some of the scenes of extreme climbing and portray so claustrophobically the bottom of an abyss. It was a truly moving documentary. I am genuinely surprised that it isn't more famous. I felt absolutely exhausted just watching it.

What we did on our holidays. - Touching the Void review by Steve

Documentary (with extensive reenactments) about the extraordinary experiences of two mountaineers. At first I I was alienated by the prospect of watching two rather smug Brits talk about extreme leisure activities. Then I was transfixed by a journey into the heart of an amazing fight to survive.
