Late period Heat with guest Gatemouth Brown - Canned Heat: Live at Montreux 1973 review by PT

This is an enjoyable live concert but not what you might expect from the blurb. Firstly, most of the early part is given to guest Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown who sings, plays guitar, violin and harmonica all very well and entertainingly. The Canned Heat by themselves are also pretty good BUT the line up is not what is named on the sleeve and neither Harvey Mandel nor Larry Taylor are present. The musicians are not named in the credits but I am pretty sure that they are...

Bob Hite, lead vocals, harmonica and guitar.

Henry Vestine, lead guitar (black Gibson Les Paul).

Fito de la Parra, drums.

James Shane, guitar and vocals

Richard Hite, bass.

Ed Beyer, organ and piano
