Synopsis:
Comedy series Green Wing follows new surgical registrar Dr Caroline Todd (Tamsin Greig) through her first day at work and beyond, starting out as she means to go on - dishevelled and under-deodorised having spent the night in her car. Along the way she meets an assortment of bizarre and demented characters including Guy Secretan (Stephen Mangan), the smooth talking part-Swiss anaesthetist and all-round misogynist; Dr. Alan Statham (Mark Heap), one of the kinkiest doctors on the ward, a stammering eccentric radiologist who has powerful sexual feelings for Joanna Clore (Pippa Heywood) the moody age-obsessed HR Director. Then there's the high flying but effortlessly cool, Dr.
'Mac' Macartney (Julian Rhind-Tutt), whom Caroline may or may not have a big-time crush on; the sociopathic staff relations counsellor Sue White (Michelle Gomez); hapless junior doctor Martin Dear (Karl Theobald) and the irritatingly perfect Dr. Angela Hunter (Sarah Alexander).

Not your usual medical soap - Green Wing: Series 1 review by MD

I found this too bitsy. It's more or less just a series of jokes separated by a speeded up camera. I am afraid it sent me to sleep.

Ground breaking - Green Wing: Series 1 review by JD

Spoiler Alert

12 years ago watching this series was cult and classy. A new comedy that was really funny not just because it was so different. The strange filming style of speeding up and slowing down was quirky and the British actors unknown but genuinely talented. What has changed? The most important is that you shouldn't watch the episodes together. The comedy is too repetitive, almost a sketch show of caricatures. The second is that I have seen them before and although I can't remember that much plot, it is no longer shocking. It was so ahead of its time that it isn't dated. For those with a medical humour leaning who have not watched it before highly recommended but just order 1 disc.
