Really good, especially for a debut feature
- I Am Not a Witch review by MN
Thoroughly enjoyed this. It's a smart, has an offbeat sense of humour and is shot in quite a minimal style. I found it to be pretty refreshing and unpredictable. It wont be to everyone's taste but if a coming-of-age film about a young 'witch' in Nambia doesn't intrigue you then maybe give it a miss.

Interesting Fable about Witchcraft in Africa
- I Am Not a Witch review by Peter B
Really enjoyed this film. A lot of thought had gone into the set and logistics. Authentic Africa and locals employed as actors. The central performance from the little girl was outstanding. Memorable music and photography. Interesting insights into how outsiders and misfits can be ostracized in society into formal roles.

Terrible
- I Am Not a Witch review by JR
Part video installation, part conceptual art school project, a flimsy 'story', bonkers soundtrack of Vivaldi and drumbeats - it's an inauthentic mess.

Refreshingly different, startlingly revealing.
- I Am Not a Witch review by TE
This is a beautifully filmed, highly authentic account of the role of 'witchcraft' in Zambia.
The film shows how corrupt officials and tribal power brokers take advantage of the continued existence of such abhorrent superstitions.
The young girl's story is horribly tragic and many of the images endure like a recurrent bad dream, a testimony to the director's skill and vision.

Authentic Zambian story with a poignant ending
- I Am Not a Witch review by CP Customer
Watched this with a friend who lived in Zambia for a good number of years. It took us a while to get into it, but once hooked, it was gripping. The women were consistently lovely and the men unremittingly bad. Definitely worth watching - very moving.

Unwatchable for anyone with a visual impairment
- I Am Not a Witch review by CP Customer
Hadn't realised this was almost all subtitled. I couldn't read the subtitles so, for me , it was unwatchable. Usually film information and reviews will state something like - Japanese film with English subtitles - then I would know to avoid.

Too sad
- I Am Not a Witch review by CW
Poor little girl forced to be labelled a witch. The one bright spot is that she is given to a group of women also forced to live as witches. They are kind to her. They are slave labourers on a farm and kept on leashes. They are made to perform for tourists who stare at them and take photos. The little girl is not permitted to go to school though the other women want her to have an education. All of the women in the movie are good, all of the men are bad. All except for one policewoman, all of the women are slaves. No hope. Throughly depressing.

This is not Entertainment
- I Am Not a Witch review by AS
However authentic the story maybe, it is not rewarding to watch except, perhaps, for a documentary function or to reassure women all over that they too are really victims of men.
