Having become a fan of 'Nordic noir' via tv programmes such a 'The Killing', 'Borgen', 'The Bridge','Those who kill' and (the brilliant) film adaptation of 'Jo Nesbo's Headhunters' - we gave this film a try. A simple plotline in which ex-cons who work in a fake Christmas tree factory win a large amount of cash on a bet on several football games. What could possibly go wrong? I won't spoil what happens but there's lots of blood, some ridiculous and incredibly amusing attempts to dispose of bodies and a shoot out in a strip joint/porn emporium as the protagonist's argue over who gets the share of the winnings. At 83 mins the time whizzed by and you don't even notice the subtitles. A total hoot from start to finish.
CC's review is spot on, I rented this having seen the trailer on another DVD and wasn't disappointed. Every one of the characters play their part and the storyline is quality all the way, enjoy!
Would-be humorous thriller about a shooting involving four idiots who fall out over a pools win. It tries so hard to be quirky and unrealistic that it destroys any interest in the plot or the characters, so ironically it ends up just being dull. With TV aesthetics and a plot that darts back and forth in time to explain the shooting in retrospect, it’s hard to care about any of the goings-on. The ad campaign makes a lot of it being based on a Jo Nesbo thriller, as was the excellent film Headhunters, but this is a dud.
