Synopsis:
Joy (Olivia Colman) and Mully (Charlie Reid) are two lovable rogues. Joy's got a baby and motherhood does not come naturally to her; she feels she's tossed her own dreams aside to give a screeching baby unconditional love. And, if she's honest to herself, when she looks in the mirror she sees the shadow of her own neglectful mother. Twelve-year-old Mully also has a mum-shaped void in his life, as well as a conman dad. But Mully's got balls; he knicks his dad's stash of cash and steals a taxi in a bid for freedom. But, there's an almighty yell from the back seat.
It's Joy - hungover, freaking out, and holding a baby! As they tear up the road on their riotous misadventure, we follow these roguish 'outlaws' in search of their dreams, in this feel-good, foul-mouthed fairy-tale

Some lovely scenery and a new talent in Charlie Reid - Joyride review by Darius

OK plot/storyline. Perpetuates a few Irish stereotypes and couldn't vouch for Olivia Colman's accent. Charlie Reid is excellent and I have no doubt we'll be seeing more from him.

A must see - Joyride review by SKC

Charlie Reid absolutely steals this film. A superb performance. I love this film. Olivia Coleman plays Olivia Coleman with a wavering Irish accent but I am sure her fans will love this too. A road movie with a difference.

No joy to be found on this dismal ride - Joyride review by RCO

One star for being Irish and mildly amusing at times - but it doesn't really deserve even that.

Incoherent storyline, cartoonish characters, poorly directed, it is almost complete rubbish.

Sound so poor we had to turn on the hard-of-hearing subtitles to catch what they were saying - not that they were saying anything very interesting. The oirishness was dialled up to 11 and frankly irritating, Photography competent though.

The director should go back to her documentaries, and the writer should try a different line of work. You shouldn't waste your time watching it, its not even bad enough to be worth seeing it to laugh at.
