- Synopsis:
- Awakening from a drugged stupor, Dr. Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) finds himself chained to a pipe in a dingy bathroom, with another man (Leigh Whannell) in the same situation across the room. The men are the latest victims of the Jigsaw Killer, a maniac who uses elaborate traps to test his victims' dedication to life. Given six hours, a hacksaw, and a bullet, Dr. Gordon tries to figure out a way to freedom, hoping his kidnapped family (including Monica Potter) can survive the nightmare as well. Hot on the Jigsaw's trail is Detective David Tapp (Danny Glover), an equally as insane cop who was once the victim of the Jigsaw's evil scheme.

One of the best horror films to be released in a very long time in our opinion, but not one we're in a hurry to watch again in a hurry. Must-see for all horror fans.

Fan of Tense, Gory, Horrific films ? This is a low-budget belter. Worth checking out Descent, coz that's cool n all.

Inspiration for Escape Rooms? - Saw review by HW
Nice to be reminded years later of how fairly decent the first ‘Saw’ film was as an intense thriller. This first film was definitely more about the twists and the psychological tension rather than the gore (although some scenes are still fairly gnarly. Don’t watch this if you don’t like saws and feet mixing). The killer’s motivations also remain very original and disturbingly understandable. Also I had no idea Cary Elwes was in this. His career really took a dark turn!
