Finally released and with nowhere else to go, he returns incognito to his former home where he is taken in by the new occupants. As he is falling in love with the dead man's sister, Therese, a stranger calling himself 'Chavel' arrives on their doorstep.

Maximum improbability - The Tenth Man review by CM

Spoiler Alert

The plot relies on coincidence piled on coincidence, & even great actors can't make it float, but it held our attention for the duration.

Golden Oldie - The Tenth Man review by NC

Obviously an old and slow film, but Anthony always worth watching. Remains of the day has a similar feel to it, but a lot tighter film.

Rather slow Graham Greene - The Tenth Man review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert

Rather slow film, to get into and the story line slowly builds up to the denouement.  Great opportunity for the lead actors to get into their parts and they succeeded.  For me it missed that special moment that I have grown to associate with Graham Greene books and the films of them.
