As Joan (Sylvia Sidney) excitedly awaits the release of her thrice-convicted criminal lover Eddie (Henry Fonda), she has little idea of the tragic consequences that lie in front of them. Once released, Eddie struggles against a society that refuses to give ex-cons a second chance and before long they are on the run, condemning themselves to an early demise.
Adapted from the novel by prolific crime fiction author James Goodis (Dark Passage), 'Nightfall' is the story of Jim Vanning (Aldo Ray), an innocent man wrongly accused of murder. On the same night he has a chance encounter in a bar with glamorous model Marie (Anne Bancroft), the hoods he s spent the past year running from catch up with him, determined to recover the money they believe he stole from them. Pursued by both the hoods and law enforcement, Vanning and Marie go on the lam, leading to a desperate chase that takes them from the streets of Los Angeles to the snowy peaks of Wyoming.
The film is Fritz Lang's seventh Hollywood feature, made in 1953 on a miniscule budget and shot in just twenty days by one of the best 'noir' cameramen Nicholas Musurca and is considered one of his best murder mystery films. Norah (Anne Baxter) is a pretty telephone operator engaged to a soldier posted overseas. When she receives a letter from him ending their engagement, feeling despondent, she falls for the charms of Officer Lothario and agrees to a date. They go to the Blue Gardenia Club, where he gets her drunk and then takes her back to his apartment. She is later forced to fight off his lecherous advances by bludgeoning him to death and flees, leaving behind her handkerchief, high heels and a blue gardenia at the scene. She awakes the next morning remembering nothing while a nationwide murder hunt gets underway, but journalist Casey Mayo (Richard Conte) offers his support and suggests an interview in exchange for a fair trial.

Out Of Africa follows the true life story of Karen Blixen (Meryl Streep), an amazingly strong-willed woman who moves from Denmark to run a coffee plantation with her philandering husband (Klaus Maria Brandauer) in Kenya around 1914. To her astonishment she soon discovers herself falling in love with the land, its people and a mysterious British adventurer and idealist (Robert Redford).
Eliane (Catherine Deneuve) is a wealthy French plantation owner living in Indochina in the 1930's with her father and adopted native daughter Camille (Linh Dan Pham). She has a brief affair with a young officer, Jean-Baptiste (Vincent Perez), but after she has ended it, to her dismay discovers that Camille is madly in love with the young man. Eliane is able to arrange to have him transferred and Camille subsequently gets married. However, Camille never loses her love for Jean-Baptiste and finally sets off across the country to find him.

Loosely based on Stefan Zweig's novel Angst, Fear explores the inner turmoil of a woman pushed to the edge through the anxiety caused by her infidelity. Ingrid Bergman stars as Irene, the wife of a prominent German scientist, Albert Wagner (Mathias Wieman). Irene has been engaged in an illicit affair which she goes to great pains to hide in order to keep her husband blissfully unaware. However, when her lover's jealous ex-girlfriend, Johanna (Renate Mannhardt) learns of the relationship and proceeds to sadistically extort her, Irene's life soon spirals out of control.
