- In 1822, eight convicts escaped the brutal confines of the penal settlement Macquarie Harbour in a fateful bid for freedom. Led by ex-sailor and experienced navigator Robert Greenhill (Arthur Angel), the men battled against some of the world's harshest terrain in the unexplored wilderness of Van Diemen's Land (now known as Tasmania). As supplies ran out and the tensions in the group began to escalate, the escapees soon contemplate the unthinkable. Based on the disturbing and infamous confessions of Alexander Pearce (Oscar Redding), Australia's most notorious convict, 'Van Diemen's Land' is a dark gothic tale that reflects Australia's true colonial heritage.

No Subtitles. High Fliers still the worst. Subtitles should be a legal requirement when companies like High Fliers don't care about the deaf.
