Not very good at all...
- Blink Twice review by TB
Struggling to find a decent aspect to this film...
The script is bad, and the plot fairly non-existent. Most of the film is a bunch of annoying characters getting drunk & stoned, and being irritating. I didn't care for any of the characters at all. And it's really quite boring...
I think the previous reviewer must have seen a different movie (or is a schill). I'm being generous giving it 2 stars.

Dazzling
- Blink Twice review by griggs
Blink Twice is Zoe Kravitz’s dazzling directorial debut, a gripping, twisted thriller that confronts post #MeToo gender politics head-on. The film expertly combines razor-sharp genre storytelling with biting social commentary, all against a brutal, tension-filled backdrop. It’s as wildly entertaining as it is thought-provoking, making it a must-watch and one of the year’s standout films.

Effective Thriller
- Blink Twice review by GI
A stylish and effective thriller that draws on the high profile cases of uber rich men taking advantage of young women to the point of sexual assault and depravity. This is a film that fits into a group of film narratives such as Get Out (2017), Saltburn (2023) and Triangle of Sadness (2022) and is the debut directorial film of Zoë Kravitz who also co-wrote the screenplay. Naomi Ackie is Frida, a humble cocktail waitress, who dreams of better things and who gets the attention of Tech Billionaire Slater (Channing Tatum) who invites her and her friend to join a party at his paradise island retreat. Once there Frida enjoys a time of frivolity in luxury surroundings and Slater is obviously attracted to her but soon Frida begins to feel uneasy but can't really pinpoint what is causing her to suspect all is not right. The narrative here is obviously plugged into the case of Jeffrey Epstein and the wider #MeToo campaign and for the most part it's an effective thriller but some of the signs of what is going on are a little too unsubtle with the final climax feeling bit too contrived but overall this has a neat build up and a solid plot. The cast are great and include Alia Shawkat, Adria Arjona, Geena Davis, Christian Slater, Haley Joel Osment and Kyle MacLachlan.

Boring drivel
- Blink Twice review by Alphaville
From the ridiculous woke trigger warning at the beginning (which should be for offences to film rather than for violence), this is a travesty of an effort that has nothing going for it at all. It comes across as a cheap TV drama in which little happens and the screen is filled with big close-ups of talking heads spouting nothing of interest in interior sets. Watching paint dry would be more enjoyable.

Bad
- Blink Twice review by cr
I agree with the second reviewer.
Curiously over praised yet lacking any kind of originality or interest it plods along with the same scenes time and time again until a pointless, unlikely and unsatisfying ending.
Avoid.

Mediocre Manblaming MetooBoohoo Boring Babywoman VictimPosing Feminist Fantasy
- Blink Twice review by PV
Watch MIDSOMMAR for a great film about a weird isolated community. Or maybe BRIGADOON. Not this dross.
It seems someone has decided to write a feminist pity party fantasy, a la Handmaid's Tale, in which all males are portrayed as nasty evil monsters and all women as innocent wickle girls (which is actually deep misogyny, infantilising adult women).
It seems the writers tried to rip off rumours Jeffrey Epstein in this.
The movie thinks it is SO clever and radical but it is neither. It does not have the style of the albeit flawed GET OUT. In a word, it's BORING.
And the ending. Why, this is metooboo feminist emoporn I think, complete with a manhating starter kit.
For anyone disagreeing with my take on this, JUST REVERSE the genders - and then ask yourself if you'd consider that sexist.
This is a silly girl fantasy, which I'd classify as porn really. And the TRIGGER WARNING before it thanks to AMAZON MGM studios made me realise the horror to come.

Rape Revenge thriller masquerades as meaningful statement.
- Blink Twice review by LW
This a pretty straightforward thriller that ticks the boxes for the rape revenge thriller and the 'rich people hunt others for sport' genres. Despite an infantilising 'trigger warning' at the start there is little shocking on display. The gimmick is that the victims are being drugged to forget their abuse on the seemingly idyllic private island of a sinister tech billionaire. An implausible remembering scenario triggers a round of mundane retributive violence and there's a smug twist at the end. The build up of menace is nice but this is too heavy handed to be insightful social commentary, too predictable and sure of itself to be thrilling, not darkly funny enough to be a satire and nowhere near brutal enough for the schlock fan. It is efficient, slick and forgettable.
