So unfunny it’s a joke
- Johnny English Strikes Again review by Alphaville
This third outing in the “franchise” has an attractive sheen of old Bond movies about it, with gorgeous Mediterranean locations and a lush score, but Rowan Atkinson’s clowning and gurning is even more spectacularly unfunny than ever. Every joke is telegraphed a mile in advance, with obvious set-ups and lame pay-offs. In its favour, the fast-moving plot does keep you watching in astonishment at its amateurish attempts at humour. The French do spy spoofs better (try OSS 117: Lost in Rio).

Generous giving it 2 stars

Pretty awful. I thought the 1st one was ok, and the 2nd entertaining. But this is abysmal. A shame that hopefully the last film was done so badly. What were the writers and director thinking of?

Curates Egg

It is OK but nothing special to shout about. There were laughs, some good visual shots and effects but they do not add up to a great film.

Really funny fim with visual set-pieces from the wonderful Rowan Atkinson
- Johnny English Strikes Again review by PV
This is a reasonably funny movie with the expectedly absurd plot, and some glorious set-pieces by visual comedy genius Rowan Atkinson.
I got a bit sick of the CGI stuff, to be honest - but was prepared to go along with the ridiculous plot and Clouseau-like disasters for one reason nd one reason only: IT'S FUNNY. Simple, yes, but just funny in a child-like way. And sometimes that's enough. I get so weary of supposedly funny BBC 'comedies' with tricksy postmodern sneering etc. Yawn. That is not funny. This is.
Lots of silly dancing and James-Bond-spoof tropes and some glorious visual gags - a few plants in the script early on give away the plot (to me anyway). But the writing is sharp - and some great lines in this, especially from the female prime minister.
Good clean fun which I enjoyed a lot! 4 stars

No surprises here
- Johnny English Strikes Again review by CP Customer
Easy to watch comedy with Rowan Atkinson doing what he does best, well supported by Ben Miller and especially by Emma Thompson.
If you've seen the earlier films there's nothing here to surprise you though, it's very much more of the same but obviously not so fresh.

James Bond is Mr Alternative Car Park
- Johnny English Strikes Again review by NC
Is actually quite funny along the way. Very fifth form of course, but some good support along the way. Must have got used to it now. At least no eff and blind just for alternative effect!
Shame they never filmed any Blackadder, as that was quite a lot darker in places............
