Badly Dubbed
- The Wolf's Call review by DP
Disappointing that the version available for rent of this French film is badly dubbed into English using American accents. There is no option on the disc to play it in its native tongue. Unfortunately this totally ruined the suspense of the film for us as the mouths/ speech were always out of sync and too much of a distraction!

Thrilling submarine movie
- The Wolf's Call review by Alphaville
Who’d have thought another cold war submarine movie could have anything new to say or be so exciting? Watch A Wolf’s Call and believe. Interleaving tension with action, the plot unusually pits good guys against good guys, toying with audience emotions. Add to that a kind of hero we haven’t seen before – an Acoustic Warfare Analyst. This leads to some riveting stuff about sound recognition and a detective story in sound, on land as well as undersea.
Unfortunately the film is only available from Cinema Paradiso in the dubbed-for-dummies version of the original French, which somewhat diminishes its authenticity and realism, but it remains an exciting watch even in this format. WARNING: avoid the spoiler-filled trailer.

Technically accurate thriller, shame it's not in French.
- The Wolf's Call review by Martyn
I uses to work on software for submarines, and appreciated the depiction of 'acoustic warfare'. Would give it 4 stars, but I also like to hear French, and, inexplicably, that is not an option in this French film, so only 3 stars.

Gripping Action Sequences
- The Wolf's Call review by CD
I found the action sequences at the start of the film particularly exciting. The tension within the film of the claustrophobic world of the submariners and the need for swift decision making is quite gripping to watch, and also the almost super-human listening and identification capabilities built up by the specialist sonar operator. As other reviewers have commented, it was a shame not to have the original french language, but this film is well worth watching all the same.

So much for that idea...
- The Wolf's Call review by PM
Been waiting ages for this to become available. Sadly, it went immediately back in its sleeve and returned when I discovered it's dubbed (badly) rather than presented in its original language with appropriate subtitles. Hence the reason for the single star
Oh, well. can't win 'em all...
