Dead Swedish pan
- You, the Living review by JD
Black dead pan humour was not something with which I had mentally endowed the Swedes. I had previous seen an Argentinian film which was marvellously extreme in its deadness of pan. This matches it. Which means you have either to embrace it and lose yourself unreservedly to its obscure pleasure or it is just a series of poorly linked sketches. I was alone in my enjoyment.

Unique
- You, the Living review by DL
This film combines wonderful observation of humanity with brilliant imagination..each of the short sequences is very disturbing and, at the same time, very funny. The sequence at a formal dinner where groups of guests take turns to stand and lead the singing is mesmerising ..and throughout the film, the Director's use of a near static camera is hypnotic. I can see that some people will be irritated by both the style and the content..but take a risk..the film is more than worth it. There's a good chance you'll head for Roy Andersson's other films.

Not my humour
- You, the Living review by CP Customer
Sorry but this is not a comedy in my book. I smiled once and for the rest of the time I felt positively depressed.

Inexplicable

Supposedly a comedy, but the humour passed us by. Clearly carefully thought out, but the corpse like characters and their enigmatic goings on leftus cold.

Bonkers
- You, the Living review by TB
I've watched and understood a few bonkers/random films in my time but I honestly thought I'd accidentally eaten some magic mushrooms before I watched this. Smirked in a few places but if anyone can work out what in the hell was going on or what the point was, then please let me know haha

I loved the surreal feel to the film
But I found it very bleak and although I know many think Roy Andersson's work it to be very funny in parts, tragi comic, to me it was just tragic and wasn't tempered by the bizarre situations depicted.
I found it incredible that he builds all his sets to get the right feel for a scene especially as they are frequently of very ordinary interiors
Really impressive with such a unique take of the human condition
