Yellow Bird 10 ~ Hollywood 0
- The Girl in the Spider's Web review by JD
This film was painful to watch if you've seen the quality original Swedish Trilogy or even the later English language remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. If however you like Hollywood tosh this could be a movie for you.

Ok, but not the high-point of the series.
- The Girl in the Spider's Web review by Schrödinger's Cake
I enjoyed the previous films, so hoped for more of the same with this one. However, whilst it started out really well, it went downhill in the second half, and quickly began to feel silly and unbelievable. Ok, but not the high-point of the series.

Lame and laughable
- The Girl in the Spider's Web review by Alphaville
Lisbeth Salander has become a female icon, but this latest film in the franchise, with yet another different actress, fails to convince. Clare Foy makes a good fist of it but can’t quite reach the level of brooding intensity required for the character. The main problem, however, is the plot. Salander has evolved into a superwoman with unbelievable IT and escape abilities, to say nothing of clairvoyance. In the opening scene, for example, her rapist victim obligingly stands on the exact spot where she has placed a lasso on the floor to hoist him up by his feet. And if you think that’s contrived, wait till you see the ridiculous climax, like something out of Johnny English Strikes Again.
What Hitchcock used to call the McGuffin that everyone is after to fuel the plot is in this case top-secret software, but who cares? The film is moody and downbeat, dampening scenes that should be exciting. The incessant Tom & Jerry orchestral score is even more wearing, matching every action. Even walking across a room seems to require the string section to scratch away forebodingly.
Perhaps it all worked better in the book.

Boring
- The Girl in the Spider's Web review by CP Customer
We only lasted 25 minutes and turned it off. Just a bit dull, and lacking a very good storyline. Love a thriller but this wasn’t very captivating.

not a bad Bourne film
- The Girl in the Spider's Web review by DC
It shouldn't really be part of the 'Girl..' series - she's now saving the world! It doesn't compare against the original films but as an entertaining thriller I thought it was very good - looks very impressive, acting OK (so that's what the Queen gets up to at the weekend!), exciting action sequences. I wasn't sure about watching it as the reviews were fairly poor but as long as you totally suspend belief in what Lisbeth is capable of doing I have no problem with it .

Stupid Rubbish
- The Girl in the Spider's Web review by JD
I have seen some pointless, stupid movies in my time, but I think this is the worst, at least in recent years.
The plot is ridiculous, the sort of thing where characters keep bumping into each other, only because they have read the script !
The acting is wooden, the script worse, and I suggest you go down to the pub rather than waste two hours of your life watching this rubbish.

Poor
- The Girl in the Spider's Web review by AL
Clare Foy does give it a good go in the title role, it's such a shame that the film is just unbelievable and boring. Some of the scenes are so contrived. One scene and this isn't spoiling anything, someone gets hit down by a car, but was miles away from the scene of the accident just a few moments. Must have had some sort of matter transporter. Shame. Best just watch the original Swedish ones.

The Girl with the....
- The Girl in the Spider's Web review by CP Customer
My title sums up any similarity quite well because that's where it ends. If you liked the original trilogy of books and films it may disappoint. It's nothing like, although it is a reasonable stand-alone crime drama.

Check the Swedish films as well.
- The Girl in the Spider's Web review by NC
Craig version looks like one off. The Swedish films are very good, but subtitles etc. This rolled along pretty much on the character. Gutsy lady for sure.
