Pauline's Quirkes, a light-hearted, provocative magazine-style show for teenagers, provided an early showcase for the talents of one of Britain's best-loved stars. After playing a leading role in Thames' 'You Must Be Joking'!, the 16-year-old Pauline (Pauline Quirke) took centre-stage in this teatime spin-off series, presenting a lively mix of comedy sketches, music and features. Teen pop idols Flintlock provided the songs while unleashing outbreaks of hysteria among the studio audience, and Pauline's co-presenters included future 'Birds of a Feather' co-star Linda Robson. Irreverent, often risqué humour and discussion of the pressing issues of the day raised eyebrows and blazed a trail for a new kind of show aimed at teenage audiences. This set contains the complete series, also featuring DJ's Mike Read and Steve Wright, and master magician Ali Bongo.

'Fetish Nation' is a dark mixture of classic eroticism and bizarre perversion as seen through the eyes and the actions of Jessica Drake and her depraved minions. Few commercially made adult films have ever ventured into the world of deviation and fantasy to such an extent. 'Fetish Nation' covers leather and bondage, foot, stocking and leg worship, shaving, panties, shoes and the domination of a girl 'slave' resplendent in her collar.
Around two and a half hours of archive John Cooper Clarke filmed during the early years of punk. In the punk explosion, whilst managed by Martin Hannett and mentored by Hannett and his Rabid Records partner Tosh Ryan Carter, John Cooper Clarke appeared as support artist on major tours with artists such as The Fall, Joy Division, Sex Pistols, the Buzzcocks, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Elvis Costello, Rockpile and many more. Wherever possible whether it be a dark dank nightclub (in black and white) or a larger venue (in colour), Hannett and Ryan Carter would capture Clarke's performances on audio tape and film. As shown in this great raw archive footage the delivery speed of Clarke's poems was much faster in those early years, and the audience probably read the NME and fanzines rather than The Guardian!!!
It is 40 years since Sir Terry Wogan decided to leave Ireland and move across the water to England with his young family. In that time, Ireland has changed beyond all recognition - and so has Terry. Now, in the wake of leaving his highly successful daily breakfast show on BBC Radio 2, Terry's going 'home'. In the autobiographical journey of a lifetime he travels back to Dublin, the city where he began his broadcasting career, and all the way back to Limerick, where he was born, taking in the length and breadth of Ireland's heart-stoppingly beautiful scenery from south to north and back again. For Sir Terry, this is an opportunity to cherish the old, and to seek out and celebrate the new face of Ireland. This Ireland is a very different country to the one he left behind 40 years ago and the nation now finds itself in the midst of an economic crisis. But as Terry reminds us, Ireland has survived 500 years of oppression, colonisation, religious discrimination, starvation and emigration. The Irish may be down, he concludes, but don't ever count them out.
